Missiology is a course that is designed to produce globally-minded Christians who have a biblical and contemporary understanding of missions.
Every Christian is called to be part of the great task God has given the Church and in this class, students are challenged to confront biblical truths and discover their role in the Great Commission.
Students should acquire both passion for missions and knowledge that will enable them to be effective.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This is an introductory course intended to produce globally-minded Christians who have a biblical and contemporary understanding of missions. This will be accomplished through exposure to current missionaries as well as traditional lectures and assignments.
The class will focus on four main sections:
Biblical Foundations for Missions
History of Missions
Understanding Culture
Strategies in Missions
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
Explain the biblical mandate for participation in global missions
Summarize key movements and people that aided in the expansion of Christianity
Communicate cross-culturally with effectiveness and humility
Discuss current strategies and issues in missions today
Identify the responsibilities and roles of Christians’ participation in the Great Commission
COURSE EXPECTATIONS:
Students are expected to engage with guest missionaries through questions and note-taking. Everyone should participate in class discussions and complete all required reading.
Assignments will include both individual and group work such as engaging with reading assignments and case studies.
